On Sunday, Thad and I went ventured down to Orlando with my father-in-law and brother-in-law to visit my uncle-in-law. It was a great time. If I had to choose two people to sit at their feet and listen to them talk all day, it would be Thad's Aunt Sue and Uncle Dave. They've done everything from snow skiing in Europe, to riding trains through the national parks out west, to living in Germany, to working at the NSA, etc., etc. You name it, they've probably done something close to it. I also enjoyed spending time with the Tisdale men. They possess two of the most attractive qualities a person can be blessed with: intelligence and wit. They're just as funny as they are smart--a deadly combination!
On Monday, July 4th, I met my family for lunch and shopping. Thad had to work.
Ethan, Anna and I all got the same salad from Chili's:
July 4th is my grandpa's birthday (cool day for a birthday, huh?) so we visited with my grandparents for a bit before venturing out for frozen yogurt. We went to YoBe in Fleming Island. This was my first experience with froyo even though shops have really gained popularity over the past year and popped up all over the place.
In case you are inexperienced with froyo, it's set up self serve style. You choose which flavor you like, then put whatever toppings your heart (or stomach) desires on top. You also pay by the ounce. We were lucky enough to hit up happy hour and get half off our bowls!
Anna suggested the green apple flavor, so that's what I got. I topped it with cookie dough, Reeses and white chocolate chips. It vas vondervul.
I think he liked his, too.
I had planned to go to my brother-and-sister-in-law's for fireworks that night, but since we live an hour away and I had to work on Tuesday, I made like a responsible adult and went home to do laundry. Almost exciting as fireworks. Almost. What IS exciting is that as of August 1, we won't be an hour away from all our family and friends anymore because WE'RE MOVING! We're renting a house on Lake Santa Fe that is less than a mile from where Thad grew up. To say we're excited is an understatement. More pictures and adventures to come as I venture into decorating the new place. I've been stalking design blogs like crazy for the past couple of weeks (thanks Carrie & Brittany!). The house is definitely a bit dated (think 70s), but in great condition. I'm thinking a modern/retro decor. It's gonna be good. Trust me.
Anywho, Tuesday was a 14+ work and school day, and on Wednesday I had the opportunity to take a field trip to Ocala for work. It was a cool experience. That night I went to Keystone to hear baby brother preach at Trinity Baptist. Anna and he are leaving for Louisville next week, so last night was his farewell from Trinity. He's been the intern there for the past year and a half. He did a really good job, and as corny as it may sound, my heart swells with pride whenever I see him in his element. I can't wait to see what the next few years hold for Ethan and Anna.
I had a funeral to attend this morning, so I stayed with my parents in Belmore last night so I wouldn't have to drive back to Lake City (this won't be an issue much longer!!). After the sad, but beautiful funeral, my grandparents, mom, Ethan, Thad and I went to Blue Water Bay in Melrose for lunch. If it would have been our first time at BWB, I don't think any of my family would have gone back. It took us an hour to get our lunch, and the service left much to be desired. It was a bit ridiculous considering how many good things I always hear about Blue Water Bay (which Thad does not allow me to refer to as 'The Bay' since true Melrose-ians know that 'the Bay' refers to Lake Santa Fe's bay, not the restaurant). Once our food was finally delivered, sent back, and the food we actually ordered brought out to us, it was very tasty.
I got the lunch special which was blackened mahi tacos with sauteed veggies.
Even though I had a test in class tonight that I hadn't studied for at all, I decided to take a nap after lunch at my parents house instead of getting my notes out. It was raining and everyone else was napping, so how could I not partake as well?? Admittedly, I'm getting a bit burnt out, but I think it's just the culmination of the different emotions of this week and all the driving that's taking it's toll on me. And the fact that Thad had all his friends over to our new house to go swimming while I was sitting in class in Jacksonville, then driving back to Lake City. Sometimes being an overachiever has it's draw backs, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I'm blessed to be able to have the opportunities I do. And in the end it will be worth it.
