That's a picture I snapped of one of the many, many models & equations I've been reading lately. Surprisingly, I half way understand it. As any of my c/o '04 classmates can attest, I am horrible at math. For who knows what reason, I took "honors" math in high school and was always the dumbest one in class. Call me what you want, but I'm just math stupid. I have horrible memories of different math teachers putting every numerical test grade in the class on the board next to 'A, B, & C' and who do you think was always the lone C? This girl right here. And sometimes that was a D (teachers, please don't do that. It doesn't help the slow kid's self esteem). I think the only reason I never got an F was because the teachers took pity on me and realized that even though all the lights were on as I voraciously took notes in class, come test time, no one was home in my head. It wasn't for a lack of trying on my part. Oh, no. Just ask my mom how badly I tried to understand math. It's just something--as logical as it may be--that doesn't make sense in my brain. HOWEVER, it's something that I have found that I do need, afterall. Curse all those times I said, "I'll never use this." True story, at work the other day, I was looking at a formula in Excel that someone had used to compute distance for different latitude & longitude coordinates, and the equation used SINE AND COSINE! WHO in the world would have thought TRIGONOMETRY would come back to haunt me later on in life? I digress.
What I do like about math in grad school is that it's actually math I'll use. Sure that model up there is a bit extreme, but the story behind the model is something that is very much a question for businesses (how much of a certain product to produce with limited resources in order to minimize costs or maximize profit) and MBA students should have to understand how to do it, even if a computer program can give you the answer...
Anyway, for breakfast this morning, I had this:
2 eggs cooked in coconut oil, salsa, avocado and a pluot.
Another thing about school, is that my Tuesdays and Thursdays have gotten even longer than they were during the summer. I don't get out of class until around 8:45pm (that's 15 minutes before my bed time!), so I don't make it home until around 10:15pm. Waaaaahh! Even though this semester is filled with math and late nights, I am still really enjoying it (ask me this in 5 weeks & I'll probably eat my words) and I thoroughly like UNF and all my buds there.
For lunch I plan on having this:
Homemade lentil soup. The recipe came from Eat, Drink, and Be Vegan. It's actually called "Sniffle" Lentil Soup because the author, Dreena Burton, made it for her daughter one night when she had a cold. True story: I ate this for lunch on Tuesday and ended up getting the sniffles Tuesday night! WHAT GIVES, DREENA?? hehe. I actually think it was from only getting 5 hours of sleep on Monday night (6+ cups of coffee whilst studying does not a good night sleep make) and going full force through school and work on Tuesday. Anywho, the soup is delicious and filling and ugly. This I know. As I was making this, Thad asked me what it was and if it had come out of the backside of his dog, Trixie. My reply was "lentil soup," to which he retorted, "Are you planning on selling your birthright?" If you understand that reference, let's be friends.
And so now I leave you with this picture I snapped last night as I sat on my couch and watched the sun set over the lake.
I will be doing a house tour soon (just for you, Anna!). I actually made a video tour that I intended to put up, but Thaddeus thought it wasn't the best thing to put a tour of our house on the internets. Can't be having burglars up in here, stealing my Barbie collection, one of Thad's 103 Stephen King books that he's never read, or eating any of my weird food, like this lemon drop melon I found the other day:
à bientôt!

THANKFULLY I was on my dashboard when I saw that a certain someone has posted for the first time in three weeks! Hope school is going well and please don't go MIA again!
Love, Kaylee(:
I can't wait to see the house for reals! Till then, a pictorial tour will suffice. No video tours attracting stranger danger and the killers out there. And we can totally be friends because I get that reference!
Brett love, love, loves lentil soup!! He'd be a fan of you! And girl, you are way smart if you took all those fancy honors math classes! I sadly stopped at Algebra 2 in high school...and took the minimum requirements for math in college. Glad to see your enjoying grad school!! Brett loves math...doesn't that just make you sick! hehe :-)
You have my math genes Sweet Baby....but don't fret. You are my hero!!! I also get Thad's comment so I guess we can be friends:). Love ya! Mama
SHE LIVES! ;)
Woop, Woop!! Can't wait to see those pictures!!
